“NOYO is such a fun ensemble to play in, and I think that enjoyment really comes through in our concerts. Each piece is arranged to suit the orchestra, creating interesting new takes on existing songs. My personal favourite is Behroozi – it’s so funky. I rarely get to play jazzy pieces like it on the oboe.” – Lilian, NOYO Oboist
We’re delighted to announce that tickets for our National Open Youth Orchestra (NOYO) 2025 concert series are on sale now.
Join sixteen of us brilliant young disabled and non-disabled musicians and share in our musical universe without barriers. We’ll perform beautiful new pieces commissioned for our thrilling mix of acoustic and electronic instruments, including the Clarion accessible instrument.
We’re rehearsing hard to bring you an emotionally charged performance and can’t wait to meet you all, including Cardiff audiences for the first time.
Our theme this year is “Ring Out! No more barriers, just great music”. Discover two new commissions – the piano concerto “Ring Out!” by British Composer Award-winner Liam Taylor-West, and “Fragile” by Yfat Soul Zisso, on the theme of the environment, a cause close to NOYO musicians’ hearts.
Hear our bold take on Meredith Monk’s energetic, minimalist Parlour Games, and immerse yourself in the jazz funk tones of Lucky Chops’ Behroozi.
We’ll also take on the melodious scales of Falling by Kate Whitley and perform Barriers, a heartfelt tribute to lost friends and fellow disabled musicians written by past orchestra member Oliver Cross.
Please invite your friends and family – we’ve got £1 tickets for under-25s. Our relaxed performances are suitable for all. We welcome neurodivergent and disabled audiences, families, and anyone who may benefit from a more informal atmosphere. We maintain a flexible approach to noise, and audience members are free to come and go from the concert hall as needed.
Watch our Poole concert from anywhere in the world with livestream tickets. The performance will be available to watch for 30 days afterwards.
